Hidden Champions in Dynamically Changing Societies: Critical Success Factors for Market Leadership

Hidden champions are highly successful small and medium-sized companies that are global leaders in terms of market share in their respective niches. Presenting the outcomes of an in-depth, multinational study on hidden champions in Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe, Russia, China, Georgia, Mongolia and Turkey, this book provides essential insights into the critical drivers of success, market leadership positions, competitive advantage, and core lessons learned on the road to business prosperity. It also addresses development needs in connection with management, financing and the regulatory environment, which can in turn be used to create recommendations for various stakeholders (e.g. governments, financial institutions, management development institutions) in order to support hidden champions in their further growth and business success.

Business and Society: Making Management Education Relevant for the 21st Century

The world of business is constantly evolving and management education institutions will likely face a number of challenges in keeping up with these changes. While most books focus on the needs of management education institutions, this work addresses the needs of the corporate world in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Featuring an extensive research study spanning 11 countries, it offers a unique perspective on the business challenges and developmental needs of companies in emerging and recently emerged economies, and on the missing links between those needs and management education.

TESTIMONIALS

Anne, President & CEO

Heritage Museums & Gardens, USA

Alenka brings a wealth of her own leadership and teaching experiences, executive coaching and academic research on leadership to her role as the Founder and Managing Director of the Authentic Leadership Institute.I worked with Alenka for 18 months as I took on the new role as the President and CEO of an organisation with 70 employees. She always put me first, coaching me through a comprehensive curriculum that identified my values, goals, vision, ethics, sweet spots and areas to lean into in order to improve what I perceived as my executive shortcomings. For example, I worked specifically on decisiveness, teamwork, inclusiveness and authenticity, finding imagery to help me identify daily occurrences in practice. Alenka coached me through a huge reaccreditation process for my organisation that involved reimagining our mission, vision, and strategic plan and reviewing and updating all of our policies. My work with Alenka has helped me to become the authentic leader that I am today- secure in myself and my unique talents, grounded in mission, vision and values and leading a high performing organisation. Alenka, I could not do it without your steady, nonjudgmental, insightful yet definitely challenging coaching.
You have challenged me to become the very best authentic leader that I can be!

Svetlana, Chief Marketing and Public Relationship Officer

Generali zavarovalnica d.d., Slovenia

I worked with Alenka during the transformation of my company, which was very demanding. During that time, I had to reorganise the work of the team, its responsibilities, and I also had to work on my own leadership style. Her way of coaching and consulting, which is also supported by Alenka's own experiences, builds on the characteristics and strengths of each individual. Alenka’s approach does not require learning established rules, or strives to follow the same leadership model, but rather focuses on the authenticity of each individual and his or her strengths. Through the coaching and consulting offered by Alenka (which is supported by concrete follow-up strategies after each meeting), I have discovered my own inner compass, which helps me to trust myself and my way of leading, and I am therefore the best version of myself. Alenka is on one side full of understanding, empathy and compassion, and on the other hand, she also brings a lot of business knowledge and practical advice to the coaching and consulting relationship.

Maja, HR Director

Siliko d.o.o., Slovenia

The Collective leadership assessment has given us great insight into our current leadership effectiveness and organisational culture. During the two - day strategic workshop we gained knowledge and understanding of modern leadership styles, feedback and awareness of our own performance, and we designed our action plan based on our individual and collective leadership standards.
What contributed most to the success of the workshop was Alenka`s passion, her deep professional knowledge and her individual approach to understanding the customer`s needs and expectations. This way our experience felt unique as the structure of the workshop and the selection of the tools were aligned with our company`s needs! The strategic workshop was great experience,
and I strongly recommend working with Alenka!

Miruna, Head of Marketing

Philips, The Netherlands

Working with Alenka was really helpful for me, because she came with a very vast experience in business, but also with a deep psychological knowledge. Alenka asked me the most insightful questions to help me dig deeper, and in this way, I realised which values, desires and objectives I would like to reach. She introduced me to daily journaling, setting personal and business objectives and she was there for me every moment. She also helped me to be more effective by setting the right objectives and by guiding me how to work smarter, not harder. I would recommend Alenka to anyone who wants to truly understand their goals and achieve their outcomes.
